The last weekend will go down in history as one of the most captivating experiences as far as rap music in Ghana is concerned.
At least, with the encounters that ensued between two talented rappers Medikal and Strongman, one can say that rap is not fading out soon as the fire of ‘Gh Rap’ was rekindled.
Being one of the highly tensed and thought-provoking ‘beefs’ in Ghana music industry following the rivalry between award-winning rappers M.anifest and Sarkodie as well as reggae and dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and Samini in the past few years till until recently that the Shatta Movement Empire boss and Bhim Nation president smoked the peace pipe.
AMG Business signee Medikal and former Sarkcess Music Label artiste Strongman engaged in a lyrical war that caught the attention of many music lovers and their fans in Ghana after Strongman made a counter song that was purposefully directed at the former who dropped an open bomb ‘To whom it may concern’.
Strongman who felt the above-mentioned song was targeted at cooked a diss song …
To that effect all in the quest of proving to Medikal he is not his match when rap is concerned.
This counter made by the ‘Transformer’ hitmaker confirmed that he had endorsed a lyrical battle between himself and Medikal and many feared for him as Medikal came back with a rebuttal titled ‘Last Burial’
Strongman Burner who did not want to let dogs lie made a resounding response to Medikal’s ‘Last Burial’ with ‘Immortal’ that most Ghanaians believe Strongman took Medikal to the cleaners.
The two had fired shots at each other with their songs bringing private lives and issues relating to family and relationship to the fore.
Strongman subtly made a hit at Medikal’s girlfriend Fella Makafui that many wondered even though many did not, however, agree with him.
According to Strongman Burner, he will not abandon Deborah Vanessa for Fella Makafui on any day.
He gave this hint in one of his lines when he quizzed ‘who will choose Fella over Derby’.
This is a personal attack on Fella Makafui as it questions the value of Fella Makafui as compared to Sister Derby.
We are yet to see if Medikal will respond to this shot thrown at him.
This lyrical war started after Medikal who won the ‘Rapper of the year’ award at the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019 claimed that he saved rap music in Ghana four years ago with Strongman who did not accept the assertion made by the ‘Omo Ada’ hitmaker.
