Most football lovers in Ghana especially fans of the Ghana Black Stars were deprived of what was supposed to be a joyous moments after the Ghana team were held to a draw in their first game in the AFCON 2019 against West African neighbors Benin.
Ghana plunged a 2-2 draw with Benin after two powerful strikes from the Ayew brothers placed the Black Stars ahead following a goal lead by Benin’s Pote in the early minutes of the game and an equalization goal in the second half.
Majority of Ghanaians have expressed their disappointment over the scoreline as most believed the Black Stars did not keep their heads up to hold on to the glory that laid in wait after the game.
Ghana’s reggae and dancehall artiste and BET award-winner Livingstone Satekla popularly known as Stonebwoy has waded into the discussion of the Ghana-Benin match which took place at the Ismaila stadium in Egypt.
Stonebwoy in a tweet seemed to have found the factors that led to Ghana being held to a draw with Benin after many thought it was supposed to be an easy ride for the Black Stars.
The ‘Bawasaba’ hitmaker described these factors as ‘weaknesses’ in the Ghana team set up plus other external causes.
According to Stonebwoy, the three weaknesses he found as cause of Ghana’s draw were the selection, the red card meted out to defender John Boye and the substitution.
His points suggest that the set-up put together by coach Kwesi Appiah to face Benin was flawed including the wrong substitutions he made.
John Boye suffered a painful exit after he was shown the red-card for time wasting after he was booked in the first half over an injury-prone tackle.
We Should Have Won!! But… Ghana 2:2 Benin #StillBlackStars
“Weaknesses:- *TheSelection *TheRedCard *TheSubstitution” Stonebwoy tweeted.
