Fast-rising Ghanaian Highlife vocalist Sowa has reacted to claims by Veteran Highlife musician Gyedu Glay Ambolley that Stonebwoy should stop dancehall music.
Gyedu Blay in a recent interview granted by Attractive Mustapha disclosed that BET award-winner Livingstone Satekla aka Stonebwoy if he wants to go international must stop singing Dancehall music but rather do songs from his tribe which is Ewe.
According to the self-acclaimed originator of Rap in Ghana, Stonebwoy cannot compete with the Jamaicans who originated Dancehall thus he needs to find his own uniqueness and stay original.
The veteran Highlife icon’s comment sparked so many reactions from industry stakeholders and users on social media.
Criss Waddle slammed Gyedu Blay Ambolley questioning his intelligence for making such comments he described as advice to Stonebwoy.
‘For Better For Worse’ crooner Sowa has also waded in the chastisement of Gyedu Blay Ambolley.
Sighted by Artsgh.com on his Twitter handle, Sowa berated Gyedu Blay’s advice to Stonebwoy asking the former to appreciate the efforts made by the latter in Ghana’s music industry.
According to Sowa, Stonebwoy is who is today because of the Dancehall Genre inferring that Gyedu Blay’s comment is flawed.
On the issue of Stonebwoy picking up ‘Borborbor’ music and shunning Dancehall, Sowa shaded the veteran singer asking if he would pay to attend a show where Stonebwoy is performing ‘Borborbor’.
He hinted that Dancehall music is what pays the bill for Stonebwoy.
’nuff respect @gyedublayambolley cultural identity doesn’t put food on the table if @stonebwoyb makes Borborbor music will you pay to attend his show… Put some Respek on Dancehall cos dats what has made him what he is today..nuff respect” he tweeted.
